'VESPERA' by Robert Prizeman arranged for Wind Band
Vespera, originally for choir and orchestra, begins with the plainchant for 'Te lucid ante terminum' asking for protection during the night and continues with a setting of 'Before the end of the day'. This arrangement for wind band attempts to evelop the vocal arrangement with colours of the wind instruments ts in sections and complementary groupings. Textures grow then fade into the sparse orchestration of the final section. Available on Sheet Music Direct
Barry Gray's theme to 'Captain Scarlet', Gerry Anderson's eighth 'Marionation' series is probably the second most memorable after 'Thunderbirds'.
The theme is built on a four note series (E' B C F') which itself is a variuation of the rising 'Mysteron' leitmotief (E B C F) indicating Scarlets' Mysteron past. This arrangement for Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, and Baritone Sax, Trombone and Drums tries to keep the active feel of the music. An optional percussion (windchimes) part is also provided.
